Dr. Mines is board certified in both family practice and sports medicine. Since 2005, he has worked for Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, GA. During his time as an assistant professor, he has focused his clinical interest on sports injuries, ultrasound imaging and concussion management. He is the head medical physician for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and serves as the primary care sports medicine and concussion specialist for the team. He is also the head team physician for the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream.

During the basketball season, he serves as a team physician for the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks. In addition to his work with professional teams, Dr. Mines serves as the medical director for Clark Atlanta University’s athletic department. In order to maintain close ties to the community, he also serves as a supervising physician for various high schools and soccer clubs in metro Atlanta.

Dr. Mines has served as a rotational physician for US Soccer and has travelled internationally with several teams. During this time, he was responsible for all medical and orthopedic care of the teams. He enjoys giving lectures regarding the prevention of sports injuries and concussion diagnosis and management. In fact, as an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, Dr. Mines has attended and presented at various national conferences.
